The second Ashes Test started on June 28, 2023. England won the toss and elected to bowl first. England made one change as injured Moeen Ali was replaced by Josh Tongue while Australia brought back Mitchell Starc in place of Scott Boland.
Australia ended Day 1 on a high note, with 339/5 on the board. England wanted early wickets on Day 2 and the veteran Stuart Broad did the job for them. Stuart Broad trapped Alex Carey in the front early for 22(43).
James Anderson, who only got one wicket in Ashes 2023 so far, got into the act early as well. He got Mitchell Starc right after Broad trapped Alex Carey in the front. The dynamic pace duo of England gave them the perfect start on Day 2 after getting two wickets pretty early in the day.
Jonny Bairstow pulled off a good catch to dismiss Mitchell Starc as the ball was moving away from the keeper after it hit the edge of the bat of Starc.
