In his international T20 appearance, Tilak Varma claimed his first wicket on his second delivery by dismissing none other than Nicholas Pooran, the former West Indies T20I captain.

Despite India’s series-ending 3-2 loss to the West Indies, Tilak Varma stood out for his impressive batting display in the T20I series. However, on Sunday, August 13, during the decisive fifth T20I at the Central Broward Regional Park Stadium Turf Ground in Lauderhill, Florida, the left-handed batter showcased his versatility by contributing with the ball.

In the 14th over, Tilak put pressure on the in-form Nicholas Pooran, quickly dismissing the former Caribbean T20I skipper in just two deliveries. The first ball showcased his finesse leading to a stumping appeal but didn’t secure the wicket. The following ball, Pooran’s attempt at a reverse shot led to a straightforward catch by Hardik Pandya. Tilak ended his bowling stint with a commendable figure of 1/17 across two overs.

Tilak’s impact on the ongoing T20I series has been noteworthy, accumulating 173 runs across 5 matches, making him India’s top scorer and the third-highest overall in the series.

West Indies secured a morale-boosting T20I series victory over India, their first since 2017. Despite initially taking a 2-0 lead, they faced a setback in the next two games. This win is significant after their World Cup qualification disappointments in both the 50-over and 20-over formats.
