Australia recorded one of the greatest heists in the history of Test cricket as beat England by 2 wickets in the first Test of Ashes 2023. Australia needed 281 runs to win the first Ashes test, they were in a healthy position of 107/3 at the end of Day 4.

The last day started late due to rain, Australia needed 174 runs, England needed 7 wickets in 67 overs. Usman Khawaja and Scott Boland started slow. England continued to take wickets in regular intervals, and they were almost in a winning position when Australia were 227-8 and they still needed 54 runs to win the match.

Pat Cummins was joined by the off-spinner Nathan Lyon. Pat Cummins being the aggressor, Australia charged on to the loose balls and they were marching towards a great win. Ben Stokes put down a tough chance of Nathan Lyon, that gave Australia a edge of luck. Nathan Lyon and Pat Cummins continued their fight and in the end they took Australia over the line in a sensational win.

The celebration and joy from Pat Cummins after hitting the winning runs went viral, as he was seen throwing his bat and helmet and running towards Nathan Lyon and lifting him up. It was certainly a win to remember for ages for the Australian team as they clinched a win from the verge of losing.
