BCB official Jalal Yunus sharply criticized Mustafizur Rahman’s participation in IPL 2024, arguing that Bangladesh would not benefit from it.
CSK’s star pacer Mustafizur Rahman has already been called to go back for his national duties in Bangladesh on May 2, and BCB’s cricket operations chairman, Jalal Yunus, has spoken in favour of the decision while making sharp comments at the Indian Premier League.
“We are letting Mustafizur play till May 1. He’s coming back on May 2 and will be available the following day. Mustafizur has nothing to learn from playing in the IPL. Mustafizur’s learning process is over. Rather, there are many players in the IPL who can learn from him. Bangladesh will not benefit from this,” Yunus said, as quoted by The Daily Star.

“Our concern is Mustafizur’s fitness. They want to take 100 percent from him. They don’t have a headache about his fitness, but we do. The reason we are bringing back Mustafizur is not just to play in the Zimbabwe series, but if he is brought here, we will plan for his workload. But that plan won’t happen if he’s in IPL,” he added.
The left-arm fast bowler has been a key asset for CSK this season. He has been instrumental in getting early wickets, which is crucial for setting the tone in a match. Despite originally needing to return to Bangladesh on May 1st for national team duty, CSK managed to secure him for an extra day. This means Mustafizur will get to play four more matches for CSK before departing.
The last match that the bowler will play for the yellow camp is against the Punjab Kings on May 1st. Chennai therefore, will have to find a replacement for him after he leaves. Meanwhile, Ruturaj and Co. comfortably maintain their third position in the IPL points table and will play their seventh game against LSG on April 19th.
