KKR saw defeat against RR on April 16th, followed by Shah Rukh Khan giving a motivational speech in the dressing room that collected a hearty smile from mentor Gautam Gambhir.
Kolkata Knight Riders co-owner Shah Rukh Khan addressed the team in the dressing room following their narrow defeat to the Rajasthan Royals (RR) on Tuesday. Despite the loss, Khan delivered an inspiring speech, that made Kolkata’s mentor, Gautam Gambhir, smile at his words.
The match saw RR clinch away the victory from KKR, thanks to Jos Buttler’s amazing knock, where he was successful in scoring a century and led his team to victory amidst the run-chase pressure. After the match, SRK gave a morale-boosting speech to the Kolkata camp, which saw Gambhir smiling at his words. Watch the video below:
Acknowledging the team’s strong performance, Khan highlighted the unpredictable nature of sports. “There are days in our lives, sports especially when we don’t deserve to lose, and it is also when we don’t deserve to win. But days are like that, which turns things around. I think today we didn’t deserve to lose; all of us played extremely well. We have to be very proud of ourselves,” said Khan.
Khan emphasised the importance of maintaining high morale. “Please don’t feel sad or down. Feel as happy as we feel whenever we come to the changing room. We are on a high; maintain the high. The main thing is the energy in all of us. We have great energy on the field; we have lovely energy here; personally, everybody is bonding together,” he stated.

Khan also offered words of encouragement to Gambhir, who was visibly disappointed after the loss. “GG (Gautam Gambhir), you don’t feel down. We would all be bouncing back,” Khan concluded, successfully lifting Gambhir’s spirits.
Though the Knights could not see victory on April 16th, they retained their second spot on the points table, and they will be next hosting RCB at Eden Gardens on April 21st.
