Delhi Capitals’ assistant coach James Hopes hailed Rishabh Pant’s impact after his all-round performance secured a dominant victory against the Gujarat Titans on Wednesday. Pant’s return from injury has significantly boosted the Delhi side, according to Hopes.
Pant’s leadership and on-field contributions were instrumental in Delhi’s win. He won the toss and opted to bowl first, and the decision proved crucial as the bowlers restricted Gujarat to 89 runs. Rishabh Pant’s captaincy was sharp, with his bowling changes and field placements disrupting the Gujarat batting line-up.
“Pant’s keeping; it’s pretty good. Ain’t it? Last year, we tried really hard to cover that gap. But it’s very hard to cover a world-class keeper, if not the best wicketkeeper-batter in the world. Now that he is back, you can just see everything about his game: his keeping is improving, his captaincy is becoming very sharp, and his batting has been pretty good from the start of the tournament,” Hopes said of Pant, as quoted by India Today.
His comments stemmed from Rishabh Pant’s exceptional show behind the stumps. He took a diving catch to dismiss David Miller and caused two crucial stumpings in the same over. His efforts left Gujarat reeling at 48 for 6 after just 9 overs.

Looking ahead, Hopes expressed optimism for the upcoming matches, particularly the three home games scheduled for the Arun Jaitley Stadium. “We are halfway through now. We said, leading into the game, that a win tonight would put us on the table. And we also had a good week-and-half for us, with three home games in Delhi. We are running into the freight train for the next game, which is SRH. We are already preparing for that. If we have a good week-and-a-half, then we are going to be right around that top 4,” Hopes concluded.
After securing their place in the sixth position on the IPL points table, DC will continue their dream run for the playoffs and will be facing SRH on April 20th.
