Glenn Maxwell will miss another IPL 2024 match for RCB due to a hip strain, continuing to recover from physical and mental strain after poor scores this season.
Glenn Maxwell’s ‘hip strain’ will sideline him for another IPL 2024 match with RCB. The all-rounder, acknowledging a need for both physical and mental recuperation due to his poor form coinciding with RCB’s struggles, remains hopeful of returning once fit.
In six matches, Maxwell has only managed 32 runs at an average of 5.33. Expressing his situation on ESPN’s ‘Around the Wicket,’ Maxwell indicated ongoing recovery efforts, stating he’ll seize any opportunity to return to action if a spot opens up in the team.
“I’ve actually got a little bit of a hip strain so I’ve got a few more days off and during recovery. So I’ve got a little period here where I’m still training, still trying to get myself right. If there is a spot that becomes available, I’ll obviously put my hand up and take it,” he said.
“It’s not one of those things where I’ve set a date that I’ll be out for three games then I’ll come back whenever I’m ready. That’s that’s not how it works. I haven’t been at a level that’s good enough to warrant a spot on the side this year,” Maxwell added.
The all-rounder has also set sights on Major League Cricket, joining Washington Freedom after the T20 World Cup. Expressing enthusiasm, he credited discussions with Ricky Ponting and others for his decision.
Notably, Maxwell withdrew from RCB’s recent IPL match against Sunrisers Hyderabad due to poor personal performance, opting for a break to rejuvenate mentally and physically. RCB’s disappointing performance, winning just one match out of seven, places them at the bottom of the IPL 2024 standings.
