LSG bagged a comfortable 4-wicket victory over MI as the latter failed to put up a challenging total in front of Lucknow’s bowlers.
Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) bowlers dominated the early stages after electing to field first against Mumbai Indians (MI) in today’s IPL match. MI’s batting woes began in the powerplay itself, as they lost four crucial wickets for just 27 runs within 5.2 overs. Skipper Hardik Pandya fell for a duck, while Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav also failed to make significant contributions.
The responsibility of reviving the innings fell on Ishan Kishan’s shoulders. He provided some stability during the first ten overs. Later, valuable contributions from Nehal Wadhera (46) and Tim David (35) helped MI reach a respectable total.
LSG pacer Mohsin Khan scalped two crucial wickets of Rohit Sharma and Nehal Wadhera. Marcus Stoinis, Mayank Yadav, and Ravi Bishnoi chipped in with wickets too to restrict the MI batting line-up to a modest total of 144 runs.
In their pursuit of 145 runs, the Mumbai Indians bowlers put up a good fight to restrict the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) early on. LSG suffered a setback in the first over itself as opener Arshin Kulkarni was dismissed for a golden duck. However, KL Rahul anchored the innings during the powerplay, providing stability.

Marcus Stoinis’ (62) valiant knock propelled their chase forward. Unfortunately, he was dismissed by Nabi just short of Deepak Hooda in the previous over. The match came down to a nail-biting finish as Nicholas Pooran and Krunal Pandya held their nerves to secure victory with four balls to spare.
With this win, LSG climbed up to third place on the IPL points table. MI, however, struggles at the bottom with almost no hope left for the playoffs for IPL 2024.
