In a recent development, New Zealand announced their squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup, setting the stage for the highly anticipated tournament. Led by the experienced Kane Williamson, the Black Caps boast a squad brimming with T20 World Cup experience.
Spearheading the bowling attack are veterans Tim Southee and Trent Boult. Southee, the current New Zealand Test captain, will be making his record-breaking seventh T20 World Cup appearance, while Boult brings a wealth of experience with his fifth World Cup appearance.
The squad features a strong core of experienced players alongside exciting newcomers. Matt Henry, a talented fast bowler, and Rachin Ravindra, a promising batting all-rounder, are the only two members who have not featured in a T20 World Cup before.

Notably, Adam Milne was ruled out following surgery to repair an ankle injury, and Kyle Jamieson was also unavailable for selection as he continues to rehabilitate his back injury.

Coach Gary Stead was optimistic about the selection as he shared that the squad named has variety and adaptability. “We expect the venues in the West Indies to offer quite varied conditions and feel we’ve selected a squad with the scope to adapt to those conditions,” added Gary.
The tournament kicks off on June 1st, with New Zealand facing Afghanistan in their opening match on June 7th. They are placed in Group C alongside co-hosts West Indies, Papua New Guinea, and Uganda.
