The controversial dismissal of Virat Kohli during the Royal Challengers Bengaluru vs. Kolkata Knight Riders match continues to spark debate. Now, KKR’s wicketkeeper-batter, Phil Salt, has weighed in, acknowledging some element of fortune in the dismissal.
During Harshit Rana’s over, Kohli was caught after misplaying a full toss while positioned outside the crease. The umpire called him out, but Kohli vehemently disagreed, believing the ball was a no-ball due to its height.
Speaking at the Knight Golf event, Salt admitted the call was a tough one. “It’s a split opinion; we know that. From our point of view, we feel like we may have gotten away with one there. It’s the rub of the greens, one of those calls,” he said, as quoted by News18.
Salt also commented on the new Hawk-Eye technology that measures no-ball height. “They brought that data in for exactly that purpose. I feel like in 12 months’ time, maybe there’ll be some sort of review. Is it working? Is it not working? Is it a new thing to the game?” added Phil.

Despite the uncertainties surrounding the technology, Salt remains optimistic about its potential. “But personally, from a player’s point of view, any time you’re using data and technology to be more precise and get the right decisions, that’s a good thing for the game,” he concluded.
Meanwhile, the England wicketkeeper has been in phenomenal form this season, scoring 249 runs in the seven matches he has played for KKR while maintaining an impressive strike rate of 169.39. The talented 27-year-old opener will be next seen playing against the Punjab Kings on April 26th.
