Sunil Narine, who retired from international cricket in 2019, acknowledged the public’s plea for his T20 World Cup return but firmly stated he’s made peace with his decision, closing the door on a comeback.
Sunil Narine, the talented off-spin bowler from the West Indies, announced his retirement from international cricket in November last year after not featuring since August 2019. Despite this, he’s been shining in this year’s IPL for the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), scoring 286 runs in 7 innings with an impressive strike rate of 176.54 and taking 9 wickets with an economy rate of 7.10.
With his outstanding performance, there were calls for him to reconsider his retirement, especially with the T20 World Cup approaching. West Indies captain, Rovman Powell, even tried to convince him to return to the national team.
However, Narine took to Instagram to reaffirm his decision, stating that he’s at peace with it and will support the team from the sidelines. Despite the flattering offers, he has firmly closed the door on returning to international cricket and is focused on backing his teammates for the upcoming World Cup.

“I have made peace with that decision and whilst I never wish to disappoint, that door is now closed and I will be supporting the guys who take the field in June for West Indies. Guys who have worked hard for the past few months and deserve to show our wonderful fans that they are capable of winning another title – I wish you all the best,” it added.
