Led by all-rounder Iftikhar Ahmed, players like Naseem Shah and Mohammad Rizwan were seen participating in rigorous rock-carrying drills supervised by military personnel. The camp aims to boost fitness levels, with Naqvi stressing its importance. In a show of camaraderie, the players were also seen cheering for teammate Azam Khan, who completed the exercise last, enhancing team spirit amidst the challenging training regime.
Following Babar Azam’s resignation as captain across all formats post-2023 World Cup, Shaheen Afridi briefly led Pakistan in T20Is, albeit with a 4-1 loss against New Zealand in January. However, on March 31, PCB reinstated Azam as captain for white-ball cricket, confirming his leadership for the upcoming T20 World Cup.
Pakistan’s next challenge is a five-match T20I series against New Zealand at home, starting April 18. In the 2024 T20 World Cup, Pakistan finds themselves in Group A, alongside traditional rivals India, along with the USA, Canada, and Ireland. The much-anticipated India-Pakistan encounter is scheduled for June 9 in New York.
