In a heartwarming display of sportsmanship, former Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) captain Virat Kohli and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) mentor Gautam Gambhir were captured having a light chat during the drinks break at the ongoing IPL 2024 match between RCB and KKR at Chinnaswamy Stadium. The video of their friendly interaction quickly went viral on social media.
This gesture comes after previous heated confrontations between the two, notably during IPL 2023 when Gambhir represented Lucknow Super Giants. Despite past tensions, Kohli and Gambhir shared hand shakes, laughs and a warm embrace, signaling a reconciliation.
Representing Lucknow Super Giants, Gambhir, alongside seamer Naveen-ul-Haq, had engaged in a heated exchange with Kohli. Consequently, both players had faced substantial fines. Adding to the drama, Gambhir often faced chants of ‘Kohli Kohli’ during his commentary gigs.

On the match front, , Bengaluru scored 182 runs after the first innings, thanks to Virat Kohli and Dinesh Karthik hitting some good shots towards the end. Despite an early setback with Faf du Plessis’ dismissal, Kohli’s swift start, supported by Cameron Green, ensured a solid Powerplay. Although the partnership slowed after Green’s departure, Kohli anchored the innings admirably.
As wickets tumbled, Bengaluru seemed to fall short of the 180-run mark at 153-5 with two overs remaining. However, Karthik’s efforts alongside Kohli ensured a strong finish, exceeding expectations for the home team.
