Aakash Chopra was concerned over Arshdeep Singh’s disappointing performance during the PBKS vs MI match at Mullanpur.
Aakash Chopra, a renowned commentator and an ex-India cricketer, seemed to be concerned about Arshdeep Singh’s spell at Mullanpur on April 18th during Punjab Kings’ match against the Mumbai Indians.
In a video released on his YouTube channel, Aakash commented on the inconsistency in Singh’s bowling. “I am slightly disappointed with Arshdeep. It seemed like he wasn’t bowling that fast. The rhythm and sharpness were not seen,” he said, as quoted by Sportskeeda.
Notably, Aakash’s concern seemed to be Arshdeep’s performance for India, as the latter will probably be the second bowler for India’s T20 World Cup squad. “It is a worry. Whatever happens to Punjab, so be it; we are worried about India. He is our second bowler for the T20 World Cup. (Jasprit) Bumrah from one end and Arsh has to bowl from the other end. So if Arsh has to do that, his rhythm is very critical for me, and he didn’t look in that rhythm,” the former India opener said.

In regard to Singh’s failure, Aakash commended Harshal Patel’s bowling. “Harshal Patel picked up three wickets because he likes pitches where the ball grips the surface when you roll your fingers over it,” remarked Chopra.
Chopra’s comments stemmed from Singh’s disappointing performance for PBKS, where he conceded 35 runs in the three overs he bowled, with an expensive economy rate of 11.67. Notably, Singh’s IPL 2024 season is not going well, as the bowler has already leaked 240 runs in the seven matches he played. Nevertheless, the Punjab pacer will be next seen facing the Gujarat Titans on April 21st.
